IS it time for a review of the bonus point system? Bath acquired 15 this season to finish second in the league. Bristol, who finished fifth, acquired only 10, but won the same amount of games and had a far superior points scored.
Remove bonus points and the top six would be: Northampton 48, Sale 48, Bristol 44, Saracans 44, Bath 44, Exeter 40, Harlequins 36.
I appreciate there is a TV entertainment factor but fairness in competition must be key.
Imagine a scenario with promotion and relegation in play (we can dream) with the team finishing bottom having won more games than the team ...
