LAST weekend I witnessed one of the most blatant forward passes this season.
During the Challenge Cup semi-final between Gloucester and Benetton, Zach Mercer tried (and failed) a fancy basketball pass, which clearly, by looking at the mow lines on the field, was at least a metre forward.
The constant disregard for the laws regarding the basics of the game, by both the referee on the field (who said it was clearly flat, eh?) and the TMO who just ignored it altogether, is gnawing at my enthusiasm.
Are we heading towards a time where the foundations of this great sport are being dilute...
