Time to encourage ambitious clubs

IN a recent issue of The Rugby Paper, Jon Newcombe wrote that the RFU has emphasised its wish to make the Championship ‘more commercially viable’.
Its viability will never improve as long as the league above it is ring fenced.
Nick Cain wrote that the RFU has created a ‘broken Premiership structure’, with three clubs in that league going bust.
The RFU must explain how ambitious clubs outside the Premiership are now to satisfy those ambitions.
