Do players really know the laws?

PETER Jackson correctly says, “a defending team cannot charge from their goal line until the kicker moves in any direction”. Surely if you were a player with 93 caps, and over 350 points for you country, you would study any changes to the wording of the laws?
In the Gloucester-Sale game on January 28 we saw another example, that could have cost Sale the game. From a Gloucester kick-off, the ball reached the Sale in-goal, which from a restart means that if the defending player grounds the ball, his team would have the option of a 22 drop out, or a scrum back on halfway.
