THE red card fiasco that has seen England’s waywardly competitive Owen Farrell rightly banned but unjustly demonised by keyboard warriors provides yet another example of World Rugby’s inability to tackle the injuries crisis threatening the sport’s future.
With 200 former players backing an early dementia damages claim, zero tolerance of tackles hitting the head may seem a vindication of World Rugby chairman Sir Bill Beaumont’s claim ‘player welfare’ is his prime concern.
