TIME has come for everyone to stop kidding themselves. We all know that since season 1995/96 and the dawn of professional rugby that was supposed to elevate the game to the next level not a thing has changed. Still fewer than 50,000 spectators turn up regularly to watch Premiership rugby in England, it’s even worse in Wales and Scotland, and that means it is simply not sustainable. Without the support of some very rich enthusiasts and TV companies the game would have already returned to its amateur status.
