Clubs are forced to travel too far

THE crowd figure for Old Albanians’ game at Barnes last weekend in Nat 2 East was 169. Yet under the RFU’s league format, OAs are obliged to make expensive trips to places such as Guernsey, Worthing and Dorking, plus four visits to Kent. Furthermore, clubs in that league are not even well matched, as Dorking’s 108-3 win over Westcliff showed.
In Nat 2 West, Old Redcliffians in Bristol had to trek to Devon to play Exeter University in front of a crowd of 112, while Dings – also from Bristol – played up at Newport in Shropshire watched by 300.
