FOLLOWING the defeats to Georgia and Australia there were the inevitable calls for Wayne Pivac to be replaced as Wales head coach. A not-unexpected reaction, however, I have yet to see any criticism of the assistant coaches who appear to have been foisted on him.
Barring Jonathan Humphreys, the others – Stephen Jones and Gethin Jenkins – have very little coaching background but are deemed suitable to take up duties at international level.
Pivac started his coaching career at club level in the early 90s in New Zealand progressing to be coach of Fiji so he has a proven track record. He possibly just needs a clear-out of his assistants and the freedom to appoint new ones of his choosing.
