NICK Cain wrote about ‘the complete contradiction at the heart of the Premiership of having a salary cap at the same time as allowing a marquee player exclusion clause’.
He says it is typical of the Premiership’s muddled management that it endorses a salary cap, while at the same time allowing limitless spending on marquee players who are excluded from the cap. Nick suggests the names of marquee players should be revealed so supporters can judge whether payments to them represent value for money.
