THE Rugby Football Union long ago deserted its historic, if often misused, role as guardians of the sport’s best interests.
Sadly it has gone a stage further allowing the Premiership and national coach Eddie Jones, with his abrasive, divisive views, to dominate English rugby undermining the country’s huge player resources.
Rugby Paper columnist Brendan Gallagher on April 10 provided a masterful indictment of the RFU’s abject failure to match France’s vibrant two division professional league system.
