WHILE the French celebrate their deserved Grand Slam, and everybody else works out what went wrong, the impact of the tournament on the world rankings could have an intriguing impact on next year’s World Cup.
The newly published world rankings show a top four of South Africa, France, New Zealand and Ireland. All four are in the same half of the RWC draw (Pools A and B) so are certain to meet each other in two of the quarters. So two of the current best four in the world will NOT reach the semis.
