Great pass, but Hill was obvious

WHILE I’ll concede to Jeremy Guscott that scrum-half Richard Hill had a superb pass, I’ve always held the belief that one of the reasons England lost to Scotland in 1990 was that Hill was predictable.
The Scots back row, led by John Jefferies knew of Hill’s pass, but they also knew that they could gamble on Hill not trying to make a break from the base of the scrum, and therefore could chase Rob Andrew down immediately.
All through the game he tried to deliver faster and faster ball, where a dummy and quick break would have tied in the opposition back row.
