THE big issue in English rugby in the immediate future will be the RFU Council meeting to sanction, or not to sanction, Premiership ring fencing.
If the Council allows it, that will be one of the worst days ever for English rugby. Ring fencing (whether temporary or permanent) would be a complete denial of the principle upon which club leagues were founded over 30 years ago.
Luckily for Premiership clubs, English rugby supporters seem less inclined to follow their football counterparts by getting worked up about it.
