UNDER the headline ‘Top flight rugby may not return until 2021’, Sale supremo Steve Diamond says “rugby could cease to exist as a professional sport”.
This is obviously due to there being no income from crowds at games. However in the same publication (TRP Sunday, September 27) there are comments about Autumn Internationals – surely it is ridiculous to suggest that these matches proceed at a great cost and loss to a struggling sport.
