EDWARD Griffiths’ ‘Heartland’ proposals for the Championship, as reported in last week’s TRP, include several contentious ideas.
Former Saracens CEO Griffiths proposes that contracted players must have a secondary activity, be in employment, education or apprentice-style training.
That would all need policing; who pays for that? It would be reminiscent of the days when Rugby Union was supposedly 100 per cent amateur.
