IT WAS suggested last week that a seven point try in certain circumstances would speed up the game. In his letter, Brian Moore states that the conversion should be eliminated and a try be worth seven points.
The conversion is an anachronism from times when only goals (a converted try ) counted as points.
But the conversion provides an interest factor, sometimes crucial in relation to the result.
Perhaps as in NFL – one bonus point – taken from a fixed position (five metres from the touchline?) – and in the form of a dropped goal?
