YOUR recent excellent article about the Stalag IV-B Springboks rugby squad reminded me of my father, Llewellyn’s account of having played against them while a prisoner there. He was a pilot until he was shot down over the Mediterranean and captured by the Germans.
Having gone through the standard interrogation procedure, which included by the Gestapo, he was sent to Muhlberg. He enjoyed various sports, including rugby, boxing and cricket so was happy to turn out for the Welsh team in the camp.
