STEVE Diamond, who must have splashed out a fair few quid on the legion of South Africans in the Sale Sharks squad, has had a pop at Bristol, who are backed by billionaire owner, Steve Lansdown, for fuelling wage inflation in the Premiership.
Diamond blamed Bristol for “wrecking the market” by paying former All Black full-back, Charles Piutau, an annual wage said to be £1m.
“Piutau must be the highest-paid player by a country mile. Good player that he is, I think they’ve paid him half a million quid too much,” the outspoken Sale director said.
