I AGREE with the sentiment expressed in Nick Cain’s column. The Six Nations owe SANZAAR nothing.
New Zealand, for example, should consider the size of their stadiums. I have been to Eden Park, the Westpac and Forsyth Barr and the capacities around 50k, 35k and 23k are simply too small. How are they supposed to generate enough income?
The observations about failing to change formats is also valid. Rugby Union at the highest level is a commodity that sells to the highest bidder. Japan, for example, is largely untapped commercially by the sport (RWC excepted).
