COMMUNITY clubs are necessarily at the forefront of the battle to try and maintain senior men’s playing numbers but need more support from Twickenham to help fund essential infrastructure.
Tony Dunkerley is correct, when he writes in his letter last week, that the reduction in numbers should be a major concern of the RFU, but he is wrong, when he says that this is discussed only in clubhouses.
This is recognised as a major problem at county level and, indeed at Twickenham, but the challenge they face is how to impact this directiy.
