DID Colin Boag write his ‘modern game is better’ comparison with tongue in cheek to get a response?
I had to say something. I played hooker for Bedford between 1965-75 in what were the best years of my life. We were amateurs and 90 per cent one-club men.
The professional era may have made players fitter, bigger, stronger and individual skills probably higher, but now with collisions at such speed with bigger men there are going to be injuries.
