Use law of averages to settle it

SURELY the fairest way to extrapolate results for the rest of the season is to calculate the average return each team has achieved from matches played so far.
For example, a team having played 16 matches and obtaining 48 league points receives three points for every unplayed fixture.
Whilst a team having played 18 matches for 48 points received 2.7 points per fixture unplayed.
Nothing subjective, season is 75 per cent completed in most leagues, so data is solid.
