I READ with interest Brendan Gallagher’s article on the 1920 Five Nations Championship. The exploits of WJA Davies, Cecil Kershaw and Cyril Lowe laid the foundations for one of the most successful eras in English rugby.
A mention should also go to Lord Wavell Wakefield (Harlequins) at No.8 and successor to Davies as captain, and Anthony Thomas Voyce (Gloucester), the man who invented modern day wing-forward play.
