WHEN England won the World Cup in 2003, I believe the coach had at least 45 top class English (born and bred) players capable of playing at international level.
This will never happen again until the owners of Premiership clubs stop their relentless recruitment of foreign players and coaches.
Many players qualify as “English” solely by residency. This has led to the lack of development of young English players.
