Let ‘minnows’ have moment of fame

BRENDAN Gallagher wrote that his two most excruciating sporting experiences were when watching Namibia and Japan being crushed at the World Cup.
Admittedly, these are not great, or even good to watch, nor probably at the time, to play in.
However, I’d wager that the “minnow’s” players now tell the story with a smile on their faces, and have no small amount of pride that they had faced the best teams/players in the world. This is not like being stuffed by a local rival or a team that on paper is in the same league as themselves.
Now THAT is difficult to live with.
