Are England truly WORLD champs?

LIKE Phil Keith-Roach I have been present at each of England’s World Cup Final victories and two thoughts come to mind.
In both the soccer and cricket finals, England clearly benefited from controversial decisions going their way.
In the rugby at Sydney the opposite was the case. Secondly, in 1966 and again at Lord’s, England enjoyed home advantage. It’s tempting then to think of Sydney as the ‘best’ of the wins, were it not for one lingering thought.
Can we really say, hand on heart,that in rugby and cricket we are taking on ‘ the world’?
