EDDIE Jones was quoted in a national newspaper on March 8: “If you’re a good player in England, you get recruited by a public school, then you go to an academy.”
He added “rough diamonds still come through, but there are fewer”. He was referring to England props Kyle Sinckler and Ellis Genge. It takes an outsider to identify one of England’s fundamental weaknesses.
The RFU should be asked if they agree with Jones’ assessment, and if so, whether they are happy with that situation.
