I WAS struck by Nick Cain’s reference, in his well-balanced piece on the World League, to Pat Lam’s statement that the Pacific Island protests “were making sure their voice is heard before any decision is taken”.
Suggestions that the rugby hotbeds of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga should be excluded are based on an assumption that we see domestically in England where the relatively wealthy haves of the rugby establishment wish to protect their own narrow interests at all costs.
