I THINK Gareth Pitt (letters Jan 6) is missing the point with his comments regarding the bonus point system having big faults.
The whole reasoning behind introducing the bonus points system was to keep individual games entertaining and competitive by trying to give teams something to play for for longer periods of the game.
If Exeter have lost games by fewer points than the Saracens, or scored four or more tries more often than them, they justifiably sit above them in the table.
