I WAS bemused by Trefor Jones’ rant last week about Sarries’ squad size, payment structure and financial behaviour.
Sarries’ squad numbers may have increased by three, but the ins-and-outs from and to other clubs since last season, plus some retirements, equate to a net loss of four.
The increase Mr Jones cites will most likely be down to several academy players having moved onto poressional contracts.
A normal part of a thriving club’s evolution, surely. As for the salary cap, it isn’t as simple as Mr Jones suggests.
