I ADMIRE the resilience and confidence of RFU CEO Steve Brown, but there is a real risk that 12 months from now he will have to fire Eddie Jones and explain to the English nation another substandard World Cup performance despite the millions thrown at it.
A more realistic, less complacent tone would have been more appropriate I feel.
The probability is we will win one out of four this Autumn, and three out of five in the Six Nations. No basis from which to enter a RWC.

IT’S only right that Eddie Jones be given the assurance that he will be in charge for the World Cup.
The players all rave about him – of course they would – and the credit he has in the bank after delievering back to back Six Nations titles is substantial.
There will always be debates over selection and while some question his choice of captain, or who wears the 10 shirt, he’s still the best man for the job.
And it must be remembered injuries have not helped him.
