RUGBY has always been a physical game and has become increasingly tough and brutal since the Union game went pro more than 20 years ago.
It stands to reason that players are fitter and stronger than before as they have so much more time to train.
However, I welcomed Jeff Probyn’s view (TRP Oct 7) that the game in the amateur days was tougher when he said: “Believe me, it was far more stressful in amateur game.”
