THE World Rugby rankings really are quite hard to fathom.
After avoiding a 3-0 series whitewash at the hands of South Africa with a 25-10 win in the final Test at Newlands, England moved up to fourth place in the list.
Owen Farrell’s first win in charge was worth one and a third points to lift them above Australia and South Africa. Another penalty from Farrell, who kicked 20 points, would have taken them back up to third – same as at the start of June.
