WITH both the unloved Anglo-Welsh and British and Irish Cups dying due to lack of interest and lacklustre Welsh region participation, the RFU had a golden opportunity to try out a revised All-English Cup competition involving the top 24 teams in the country.
Instead of an all-Premiership Cup, include the Championship clubs in six pools of four, to be played on international weekends and then there would be a number of benefits. For starters both sets of clubs would be able to fulfil their season-ticket obligations and fans would get to see more clubs that they aren’t familiar with.
