DAVID Barnes has been appointed as the RFU’s head of discipline. He will join on July 17 taking over from Gerard McEvilly, who is emigrating to Australia.
Barnes has been an RFU citing officer since 2014, after retiring from a 14-year playing career at Newcastle, Bath and Harlequins.
Ian Ritchie, RFU CEO said: “As a former player and citing officer David has a wealth of experience and understanding of the game, which will be very valuable to this role. I know that he has a lot to offer the discipline department and we look forward to welcoming David to the RFU.
