RFU must not forget the grassroots game

AS a proud Cornishman I read with incredulity Neale Harvey’s article about the RFU’s potential “cost cutting” measures which could see the demise of the County Championship, the England Counties side and some agegroup national setups.
Quite apart from the rich history of the Championship, for many grassroots players the final at Twickenham, or the honour of pulling on an England Counties shirt would be the pinnacle of their careers.
The RFU are the richest union in the world with a significant administrative cost base.
