Enjoying ‘fantastic fun’ as you walk

David Garriock feared he would spend his 80s alone watching television on the sofa but the Scot has found a new lease of life since joining Kendal Auld Greys’ walking rugby club.
The 85-year-old has experienced a remarkable journey. Born in Perth, Scotland into a military father, Garriock was in Malta from 1940-42 when the island was under attack from Germany. He recalls food being scarce, with people forced to eat rats to avoid starvation.
