FORMER Wales women’s coach Rowland Phillips has left his position as Merthyr head coach with immediate effect.
Phillips was due to leave the Welsh Premiership club at the end of the 2023-24 season but his departure has been brought forward by mutual consent.
He will be replaced for the rest of the season by former Wales second row Ian Evans and Gareth Davies.
Phillips was appointed by Merthyr in April 2022 to replace Dale McIntosh.
Merthyr lie eighth in the Welsh Premiership table after yesterday’s 20-10 defeat to leaders Llandovery.
