THE Midlands Premier kicked off in midweek when Newport Salop upset the runaway league leaders Bournville, defeating them 30-25 to inflict a first defeat of the season on the Birmingham side.
Salop picked up the bonus point following tries from Hendry Vaka, who also saw yellow later on, Jack Price, Chris Perry and Dave Manning.
Bournville couldn’t grab a try bonus point, scoring through Tom Burrows, Mark Coulson and Ben Tibbetts. The win lifts Salop up to third.
