Tier three stand up to Premiership ‘bullies’

NATIONAL One clubs have reached a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ limiting the number of Premiership academy players they can use in their match day squads.
The move follows anger voiced by tier three sides who feel they were being disadvantaged last season in favour of clubs like Loughborough, Plymouth and Ampthill, whose ties with local Premiership sides enabled them to field more dual-registered players.
Last season National One clubs could field up to 10 England Academy Players (EAPs) and three additional ‘loan’ players in match day squads of 20.
