All Black record try scorer Doug Howlett has been forced to retire from professional rugby due to a shoulder injury.
The Munster winger suffered the injured against Glasgow at the end of March but, despite undergoing surgery earlier this month, he has been advised to hang up the boots.
Howlett joined Munster in January 2008 and played a key role in their Heineken Cup success that season.
He won his 100th cap in the October 2012 League game against Leinster and ends his Munster career as the all-time second leading try scorer with 35 tries after five and a half seasons.
His name is at the top of the try scoring chart back in New Zealand though as he crossed the white wash a record 49 times in his 62-cap Test career.
