Harlequins are thought to have hit straight back to replace James Johnston by signing Northampton‘s Paul Doran-Jones.
It was announced earlier this week that the Samoan prop joined Saracens but, according to the Northampton Chronicle, it looks like Conor O’Shea has already found his replacements in The England Saxons tighthead.
Doran-Jones, who joined from Gloucester in 2011, will be one of three props to exit Franklin’s Gardens, with Soane Tonga’uiha and Brian Mujati set for Racing Metro.
Saints announced today the signing of London Irish and England loosehead Alex Corbisiero and are expected to sign an experienced tighthead to cover the departure of Doran-Jones and Mujati.
Talented prospects Alex Waller, who took played in the 2011 Heineken Cup final, and Tom Mercey have also signed new deals with the Midlands club.
“We’ve got three good, young props there (Corbisiero, Waller and Mercey) that we will need going forward,” said Northampton forwards coach Dorian West.
“It’s pretty common knowledge that we’re losing Soane and Brian to Racing and I think we’re losing Doran-Jones to Harlequins as well.
“But we’ve got three good, young props we’ve signed there and we’re looking to add to those.”
