Chris Wearmouth feared the lower tackle height laws would signal the end of his days as a second-row enforcer, but the Tynedale captain is still going strong.
In a career spanning spells at Darlington Mowden Park, Blaydon – where he made 254 appearances over nine seasons – and now Tynedale, Wearmouth played his 400th National League game in last weekend’s 54-22 win at home to Otley, a tremendous achievement for anyone, let alone someone in the engine room.
