Owners should be careful what they wish for

The ambition among some Premiership owners to turn the league into rugby’s version of cricket’s T20 is a long way behind the times.
Rugby Union already has its own version of high-scoring try-fest entertainment in sevens, and having covered the Hong Kong Sevens heyday from the late 1980s through the 1990s, I can vouch for it ushering in an era of ‘sun-and-fun’ sevens festivals around the world which resulted in the abbreviated game becoming an Olympic sport.
That legacy lives on in the Stade France being rammed to the gunnels with 70,000 capacity crowds throughout the six day...
