OLLIE Lawrence admits playing with Marcus Smith takes some getting used to but the Bath centre insists the link-up is moving in the right direction.
Lawrence and fly-half Smith had started a Test together just twice before the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand – a 43-29 win over USA in 2021 and the 53-10 hammering by France in 2023.
The relationship grew during the summer Tests, a Spanish training camp and the autumn series with Lawrence picking up hints about maverick Smith’s movements with the ball and second guessing what the Harlequin was going to do next.
