I’M not sure if referees have a patron Saint – such a notion probably contravenes some obscure World Rugby regulation – but I’m guessing it would either be Saint Nicholas or Saint John of Capistrano both of whom hold that status in the legal profession and among those required to make judicial decisions.
I mention it because it is going to take much praying and a minor miracle for the red card issue not to erupt at some stage in the November internationals. We are making life intolerable for our referees.
