When push comes to shove, Exeter Chiefs forward Jacques Vermeulen is not one to shy away from the heat of battle.
Sidelined for the opening weeks of the new Gallagher Premiership due to a knee injury sustained in the pre-season victory over Ulster, the all-action flanker was hugely impressive on his return to competitive action a week ago.
Sadly for Vermeulen – and the Chiefs – his first start ended in disappointment as the Devonians slipped to a fourth successive league defeat.
