Northampton will not rush Alex Mitchell back into action despite missing the injured England No.9 in the opening rounds of the Premiership.
Saints went into Friday night’s match against Sale at Franklin’s Gardens looking for their first try bonus point of the campaign having hoovered up 10 last season.
Mitchell, their attacking catalyst, suffered a neck injury in pre-season training and it has been slow to respond to treatment, costing the scrum-half his place in the England squad which was named last week.
