Rams are confident they would add significant value to the Championship if they became part of a revamped Tier 2 league.
The Reading-based club hope to get into the expanded 14-team Championship in 2025/26 as winners of National One, and have submitted an expression of interest ahead of today’s deadline.
Rams, who have gone close before, finishing runners-up three times in the last five years, and are one of the early pacesetters this season, would be permitted a place as long as they meet the Minimum Operating Standards (MOS).
