A STAR is born? Well yes and no... This is a young unknown, fresh faced, clean shaven Kris Kristofferson early in 1958 when he starred at fly-half for Pomona College in California and was an All American selection, a few months before he headed to Oxford University.
Kirstofferson, who died this week in Hawaii aged 88, was predicted to be possibly the biggest American rugby star ever and was expected to blaze a trail into the strong Oxford team when he arrived there as a Rhodes scholar later in the year to study philosophy and English literature at Merton College.
